right there: Waldorf-Astoria. Highly recommend you check out the hotel, especially its tower side. I stayed there several times and didn't have to go out eating. It has wonderful restaurants such as Peacock Alley, Oscar the American Bra.. Bull and Bear Steakhouse, etc... Stay away from its Starbucks setup though.
N years ago I went to 五粮液 more often because at that time there was no many choices in Midtown area. I heard that was government-owned. Last year I went to another one on Madison Ave. (forgot the name because it was paid by my friends). I agree with you that generally speaking hotel prices in NYC are a ripoff. Several months ago I had to stay on Williams Street, one block from the Wall Street, a private club associated with JP Morgan Chase. I think Bear Stearns headquarter is nearby, and BS owns a very nice fairly new high=rise in midtown (47 floors?). This is the city of excitement and the money sucking where I can only afford to go once a year.
